The Solent is probably the best known of all sailing waters, picturesque and historically important, offering many safe harbours and sheltered bays. The famous old sailing town of West Cowes on the Isle of Wight is one of the more popular destinations from both ends of the Solent, whether for a good lunch at one of the many restaurants or perhaps an overnight stay.

The pretty village of Seaview with its idyllic yacht Club and well known hotel restaurant, the beautiful Chichester Harbour and the sheltered anchorages of Priory and Whitecliff bay are all reachable from our base at Haslar Marina in Gosport, although they tend to be more wind and tide dependant than Cowes.

For those wanting to explore the western Solent, with its spectacular backdrop of the Needles and Hurst Castle at the far end, Lymington Yacht Haven is an ideal place to start. Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight, is a picturesque fishing and yachting village offering several great pubs and restaurants. Also popular are places such as Bucklars Hard on the tranquil Beaulieu River, and the safe anchorages of Thorness Bay and Newtown creek.
