Here are some examples of FAQs. If you have a question which is not answered here, please contact us. You are advised to read our Terms and Conditions of Charter before making a booking.
None of us have sailed before, does that matter?
No, with a skippered charter you can do as much or as little as you wish whilst onboard.
Are we able to get involved with the sailing?
Yes, our skippers encourage it, also making sure that everyone is given the opportunity for some time on the helm.
What do I need to bring with me?
It is advisable to come prepared for changing weather. For day sailing you will need some warm clothing, soft soled shoes or deck shoes, sun glasses and high factor sun cream! For weekends or consecutive days when sleeping onboard you will need, in addition to aforementioned items, a sleeping bag and towel. We provide pillows.
Is wet weather clothing provided?
All our yachts are equipped with full sets of wet weather gear onboard.
Am I likely to feel sea sick?
It is quite unlikely that you will feel sea sick on a short sail across the Solent, particularly if you avoid spending time down below. The motion of a yacht is different to that of a Ferry!
Do yachts Capsize?
In a word … no! They do however 'heel' or lean over, something they are designed to do!
What happens if I cancel a booking for any reason?
If you cancel within 4 weeks of the charter there will be no refund other than at our discretion. If you cancel at any other time a cancellation fee equivalent to 75% of the charter costs will apply. We will endeavour to find a replacement charter and if successful the cancellation fee will be reduced to reflect this.
What happens if the weather prevents any sailing?
It is unusual for the weather in the Solent during the summer to be bad enough to prevent sailing, however if on the day your skipper considers it imprudent to put to sea we can either reschedule your booking or credit you with the cost of the charter for use at a later date.
Am I insured for personal injury whilst onboard?
You are not covered for personal injury whilst onboard unless we are deemed to have acted negligently. In your own interests you are advised to ensure you carry adequate personal accident cover.
As it is a skippered charter, am I liable for any damage onboard?
We do not ask for a security deposit on skippered charters. In the unlikely event of deliberate damage which is directly attributable to you, we reserve the right to charge for the cost of repair up to the maximum of the policy deductible, currently £700.
